FAQ
Q. How can I allow my customers to pay for purchases on my store using their Amazon account?
A. To give your customers the option to pay with Amazon when checking out, activate Amazon as a payment gateway in Shopify. The Login with Amazon app allows customers to securely login to your website using their Amazon credentials, but does not allow them to purchase items using Amazon Payments.
Q. What customer information can I get from this app?
A. Using the Login with Amazon app alone, you can request the following:
- Customer's name
- Customer's email address
- Customer's default ZIP code
You can obtain additional information by separately activating Amazon Payments:
- Customer's shipping address
- Customer's billing address
- Access to customer's wallet to process payments
Q. I’m a merchant located outside of the US. Can I use the Login with Amazon app for Shopify?
A. Yes, as long as you do not also activate Amazon Payments on your Shopify store. If you do not wish to activate Amazon Payments, you can use this app in various regions including: US, UK, Canada, Germany, Austria, Australia, Italy, France, Japan, China, India, and Brazil.
Q. I’ve already activated Amazon Payments on my Shopify store. Can I now add the Login with Amazon app?
A. We recommend doing this only if your store is based in the US. The Login with Amazon app does not work cohesively with Amazon Payments outside of the US.
Though this app is only recommended for use in US-based stores, you can manually add Login with Amazon to Shopify stores based in other regions. You can review our documentation for more information.
Q. Does this app allow me to sell my products on Amazon.com?
A. This app provides Login with Amazon options for your Shopify store and does not support selling items on Amazon.com. If you’d like to become a seller on Amazon, sign up and register on Amazon’s Seller Central.

Deleting your Amazon account is the only way to completely erase your purchase history. If you want to delete your account for good, here’s how to give yourself a clean slate.
What You Need to Know
Your Amazon account is shared across Amazon’s websites, so if you delete it, you’ll lose access to Amazon.com as well as international stores like Amazon.co.uk and Amazon-owned sites like Audible.com. You won’t be able to sign into any website you use your Amazon account for. Your Amazon Payments account will also be shut down.
You’ll lose access to basically everything. Any open orders will be canceled, subscriptions like Amazon Prime will immediately end, and you’ll lose any Amazon gift card balance in your account. You won’t be able to return purchased items for a refund or replacement. Digital content you purchased will be gone, and you won’t be able to redownload Kindle eBooks, Amazon videos, music, digital software and games, and whatever other digital content you might own.
Amazon will also delete your account’s purchase history and customer data, so any reviews, discussion posts, and photos you’ve uploaded to Amazon’s website will also be erased.
RELATED:How to Archive and Better Manage Your Amazon Orders
Closing your account and creating a new one is the only way to erase your Amazon purchase history. However, you can “archive” some of your orders to make them less visible in the list of previous purchases.
This is an unusual step to take. You don’t need to close your account if you just want to cancel Amazon Prime, change your email address, or remove a payment method. You can do this all without closing an account. But if you really want to, here’s what you’ll need to do.
How to Close Your Amazon Account as of 2020
Update: Amazon has changed its website since we originally wrote this article. We recommend contacting Amazon via online chat or calling Amazon Customer Service at 888-280-4331. Ask the customer service representative to close your account for you.
We’ve heard from readers who have used both the chat feature and telephone number to successfully close their accounts.
The Old Way to Close Your Account
You’ll need to contact Amazon customer support to close your account, but Amazon offers a streamlined process for doing so. (Update: Amazon has removed this option from its website.)
Visit the Contact Us page on Amazon’s website to get started. Sign in with the Amazon account you want to close.
Click “Prime or Something Else” at the top of the customer support page.
Under the “Tell us more about your issue” section, select “Account Settings” in the first box and “Close My Account” in the second box.
You’ll have to talk to Amazon’s customer support staff about this. Under the “How would you like to contact us?” section, choose either “Email”, “Phone”, or “Chat”.
We recommend selecting “E-mail”, which seems to be the quickest method. You’ll need to receive an email as part of the account deletion process, anyway. Amazon’s staff won’t immediately delete your account if you contact them over the phone or online chat.
Update: Readers have informed us that, as of November 16, 2019, Amazon’s customer service representatives can immediately delete an account if you contact them via phone.
Tell Amazon’s customer support staff you want to close your account and provide a reason.
Amazon’s customer support staff will contact you by email with more warnings about what you’ll lose when you delete an account. They’ll also try to figure out what problem you’re having and offer other possible solutions. But, if you’re sure you do want to close your account, they’ll help you do so.
Follow the instructions Amazon emails you to confirm you actually do want to close your account. Amazon will then close your account and you’ll be free to make a new one with a fresh purchase history, if you like.

Overcoming Language Barriers, Amazon India Has 70 Projects in Development, Country Head Gaurav Gandhi Says
Amazon Prime Video has a whopping 70 originals in development in India, across languages and is doubling down on investments, said country head Gaurav Gandhi on Tuesday, speaking at the APOS India media conference.
“We’ve had lots of success in this [original content] space,” said Gandhi. “We’ve done a lot of work in Hindi, we are now expanding Tamil and Telugu originals. We have over 70 projects in development across various languages. And, this is literally day one for us in this space, because the opportunity here is so much.”
“What’s fascinating for us is that this appeal of Indian original series is not only just in India, but outside India. One in five customers, for these Indian originals come from outside of the country,” said Gandhi. “We are very encouraged by that, and we will double down on investments.”
Gandhi said that the streaming sector in India is witnessing a growth surge due to a number of factors – the young audience for whom their mobile phones, running cheap data, are their primary screens; a prolific content ecosystem with 12 industries in different languages resulting in a vibrant market; the dwindling number of cinema screens driving people towards streaming; and, during the pandemic, people beginning to trust digital paying methods and paying for content.
“Overall, in the first five years, we’ve seen significant growth and but there’s so much room to grow here,” said Gandhi.
The executive also said that the 50 or so films that the streamer has released over the last year and a half have found an audience far beyond the language they are made in. “The most interesting thing for us is that we’ve seen the language barrier being completely broken, so customers are actually coming in to watch content otherwise they wouldn’t got to watch elsewhere,” said Gandhi.
“Today 50% of our viewership for our language content — Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada — comes from outside their home states,” said Gandhi. “The fact is these movies will otherwise not be watched by the rest of India because they wouldn’t have been available. We are expanding selection so dramatically and high quality content is coming in from everywhere. Malayalam cinema for example today is mainstream across the country.”
Gandhi also said that it’s a misnomer that Indian consumers do not want to pay for content or are price conscious. Rather, they are value conscious, he said.
“The reality of all of that ultimately we are talking about customers’ wallets and customers’ time, and for that you need customers to engage, stay on and come back month after month, week after week, day after day, and want to pay you regularly. It’s about catching their imagination,” said Gandhi. “So I feel very encouraged by what we’ve seen the last few years, and our growth and the industry’s growth overall.”
