Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card

We may change APRs, fees, and other Account terms in the future based on your experience with Elan Financial Services and its affiliates as provided under the Cardmember Agreement and applicable law.

1. You will earn 2 Points per dollar in eligible net purchases (net purchases are purchases minus credits and returns) that you charge. Account must be open and in good standing to earn and redeem rewards and benefits. Upon approval, refer to your Program Rules for additional information. You may not redeem Reward Points, and you will immediately lose all of your Reward Points, if your Account is closed to future transactions (including, but not limited to, due to Program misuse, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or death). Reward Points will not expire as long as your Account remains open. Certain transactions are not eligible for Reward Points, including Advances (as defined in the Agreement, including wire transfers, travelers checks, money orders, foreign cash transactions, betting transactions, lottery tickets and ATM disbursements), Annual Fee, convenience checks, balance transfers, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, overdraft advances, interest charges, fees, credit insurance charges, transactions to fund certain prepaid card products, U.S. Mint purchases, or transactions to purchase cash convertible items. The 2% cash back rewards value applies only to Points redeemed for a deposit into an eligible Fidelity account. The redemption value is different if you choose to redeem your Points for other rewards such as travel options, merchandise, gift cards, and/or statement credit. Other restrictions apply. Full details appear in the Program Rules new card customers receive with their card. Establishment or ownership of a Fidelity account or other relationship with Fidelity Investments is not required to obtain a card or to be eligible to use Points to obtain any rewards offered under the program other than Fidelity Rewards.

2.

Because the interest and other fees charged on any outstanding balance are greater than the cash value of the rewards points, you may pay more in fees and interest than the value of the points you earn if you do not pay your bill in full each month.

3.

To receive a deposit, you must link your eligible Fidelity® account to your card. This can be accomplished in any of following ways. 1. You may contact Elan Financial Services Customer Service at the toll-free phone number located on the back of your credit card and provide them with your eligible Fidelity® account (s) number. 2. Simply select the “Manage Reward Points” hyperlink from the credit card snapshot page on Fidelity.com and follow the easy steps. You may also watch a brief video that describes the linking process on the credit card snapshot page also found on Fidelity.com. Please note that automatic redemptions will occur on a monthly basis as long as you have reached the point redemption threshold of 2,500 Points.

4.

Eligible accounts include most nonretirement registrations as well as Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Rollover IRA, SEP IRA, Fidelity Charitable® Giving Account®, Fidelity HSA®, and Fidelity®-managed 529 College Savings Plan accounts. The ability to contribute to an IRA or 529 college savings plan account is subject to IRS rules and specific program policies, including those on eligibility and annual and maximum contribution limits. Full details appear in the Program Guidelines new card customers receive with their card. Contributions to Fidelity Charitable® are generally eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction. Please consult with your tax advisor. The list of eligible registration types may change without notice at Fidelity’s sole discretion. For more information about whether a particular registration is eligible, please call 1-800-FIDELITY (800-343-3548).

5. Certain restrictions apply to each benefit. Details accompany new account materials.

6.

Elan Financial Services provides zero fraud liability for unauthorized transactions. Cardmember must notify Elan Financial Services promptly of any unauthorized use. Certain conditions and limitations may apply.

7.

Cardmembers are responsible for the cost of any goods or services purchased by the Visa Signature Concierge on cardmembers’ behalf.

8. Fidelity Rewards+ generally requires $250,000 invested through Fidelity® Wealth Services, Fidelity® Strategic Disciplines, or a combination of both registered as an individual account, a joint account, or certain types of revocable trusts. Assets in other registration types, such as irrevocable trusts, partnerships, or LLCs, will not be included when determining program eligibility. Fidelity Rewards is not offered as a component of any advisory service or program through Fidelity, including, without limitation, Fidelity® Wealth Services and Fidelity® Strategic Disciplines. While there are no program enrollment fees, eligible managed accounts are charged an advisory fee.

Amazon Visa ban: When UK credit cards will stop being accepted as payment and what to do if you’re affected

Amazon today revealed it will no longer be accepting Visa credit card payments in the UK from next year.

The Seattle-based firm announced to customers in an email it was making the move due to the “high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions”.

Despite the ban, Amazon said people can still use Visa debit cards, Mastercard and Amex credit cards.

They will also be able to continue using Visa credit cards issued outside of the UK.

The move was met with criticism by Visa which said it was “very disappointed” with Amazon’s choice.

When will UK Visa credit cards stop being accepted as payment?

Amazon revealed the change will take effect on 19 January 2022 and told customers to update their default payment method as a result of the change.

Customers buying products can still use Visa debit cards, Mastercard and Amex credit cards as well as Visa credit cards issued outside of Britain.

What to do if you’re affected

Amazon has advised customers to update their default payment method on their account or to add a new eligible payment method.

They are able to update their details on the Amazon Prime membership page or if they have subscriptions on Amazon.co.uk, they can update their details on the ”manage your subscription” page.

What did Amazon say?

Amazon argued that the cost of accepting card payments “continues to stay high or even rise” and that it was making the decision not to accept Visa credit cards as a result.

“We know this may be inconvenient, and we’re here to help you through this transition so you can continue enjoying Amazon’s low prices and wide selection,” the company said in a statement.

Amazon’s email to customers

Starting 19 January, 2022, we will unfortunately no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the UK, due to the high fees Visa charges for processing credit card transactions. You can still use debit cards (including Visa debit cards) and non-Visa credit cards like Mastercard, Amex, and Eurocard to make purchases. Please update your default payment method now, or add one of these new, eligible payment methods if you do not have one.

You can update your Prime membership here, and if you have any subscriptions on Amazon.co.uk, you can update them on the ”manage your subscription” page here.

We know this may be inconvenient, and we’re here to help you through this transition so you can continue enjoying Amazon’s low prices and wide selection. Please visit this help page for more information on payment methods, or go directly to your account.

What did Visa say?

Visa has said that shoppers can still use their credit cards in the run-up to Christmas as the change doesn’t come into force until January – but added that it was “very disappointed” with the move.

“When consumer choice is limited, nobody wins,” a spokesman told MailOnline.

He added: “We have a long-standing relationship with Amazon, and we continue to work toward a resolution, so our cardholders can use their preferred Visa credit cards at Amazon UK without Amazon-imposed restrictions come January 2022.”

Amazon will stop accepting Visa credit cards issued in the UK from next year because of the high transaction fees charged by the payment processor, the ecommerce giant said on Wednesday.

“As a result of Visa’s continued high cost of payments, we regret that Amazon.co.uk will no longer accept UK-issued Visa credit cards as of January 19th, 2022,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

Amazon customers can still use Visa debit cards, Mastercard and Amex credit cards, and Eurocard, the company said in a note to its customers.

“We are very disappointed that Amazon is threatening to restrict consumer choice in the future,” a Visa spokesperson said in a statement.

“We continue to work toward a resolution, so our cardholders can use their preferred Visa credit cards at Amazon UK without Amazon-imposed restrictions come January 2022.”

Since Brexit, an EU-enforced cap on fees charged by card issuers is no longer in place in the UK.

The move by Amazon, earlier reported by Bloomberg News, has prompted the UK Trade and Business Commission to call on the British government to improve the UK-EU Brexit trade agreement and analysts to call on British regulators to look into the fees in the credit card market.

“If Amazon can’t make it work, with all their resources and ability to navigate legislation to avoid costs, then small businesses have no chance, and so the government must improve the UK-EU trade and co-operation agreement to keep British businesses competitive,” said Tamara Cincik from the UK Trade and Business Commission. – Reuters

How to activate an Amazon credit card

{"menuItems":[{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with American Express","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-american-express"},{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with Chase","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-chase"},{"label":"How to activate your Amazon card with Synchrony","anchorName":"#how-to-activate-your-amazon-card-with-synchrony"},{"label":"Getting started with your Amazon credit card","anchorName":"#getting-started-with-your-amazon-credit-card"},{"label":"Compare rewards credit cards","anchorName":"#compare-rewards-credit-cards"},{"label":"Bottom line","anchorName":"#bottom-line"}]}

Three card providers issue Amazon credit cards: American Express, Chase and Synchrony. The card activation process is simple with all three providers and shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

American Express offers three ways to activate your Amazon credit card:

  1. Visit the americanexpress.com/confirmcard, enter your credit card number and 4-digit card ID on the back of your card. Click Confirm.
  2. Call the number on the back of your card.
  3. Download and use the Amex mobile app on iOS or Android, enter your card numbers or scan the card.

There are two ways to activate your Amazon credit card with Chase:

  1. Go to chase.com/personal/credit-cards/verify-credit-card, log in or sign up with your Social Security number and your card, account or application number.
  2. Call 800-432-3117 and follow the prompts.

If your Amazon card is issued by Synchrony, here’s how to activate it:

  1. If you have a sticker on the back of your card, call the number written on the sticker.
  2. Otherwise, call the number on the back of your card.

Amazon credit cards by Synchrony Bank

Once you’re approved for your Amazon credit card, you’ll want to do a few things to set yourself up for credit success.

    1. Download the mobile app. Getting the Chase mobile app or the Synchrony mobile app — depending on which Amazon card you got — can simplify your finances in many ways. For example, the Chase app lets you set up autopay, monitor your accounts and spending, make payments or activate the Chase Offers program.
    2. Set up digital wallets. Chase supports digital wallets, meaning you can add your Amazon card to Apple Pay, Google Pay, Garmin Pay and more.
    3. Enroll in online banking. Visit Chase’s website to enroll in online banking. You need to provide personal information, such as your SSN or tax ID, your bank account and your mobile phone. Once you set it up, you can monitor your accounts, activate autopay, redeem rewards and more. Amazon also has an online banking service for cards issued by Synchrony Bank.
    4. Add your card on Amazon.com. Make sure you have set your Amazon credit card as a preferred payment method on Amazon.com to earn your cashback rewards.
    5. Set up a PIN. It’s likely that your card will already have a personal identification number (PIN), but in case you don’t have one — or you want to reset your old one — call 800-297-4970. Simply follow the automated instructions and you should be all set. Having a PIN number is important, especially for those who travel abroad.
    6. Set up autopay. To set up autopay, you need to access your Chase online account or your mobile app. From there, select the card you want, select Set up next to automated payments, chose the amount and from which account you wish to pay. You can also set up autopay for cards issued by Synchrony Bank.

Now that you have your Amazon card activated, you can start using it. If you ever feel the need to have access to a higher credit line or additional perks, consider applying for a second card to help you maximize rewards. For example, if your card now earns accelerated rewards on Amazon purchases, your next card could earn you rewards on groceries, gas or any other category where you spend most. Check out the cards in the table below to see what perks and rewards you could get.

Amazon credit cards are issued by three different card providers. However, the card activation process generally remains the same — by phone and online. American Express is the only provider of the three that lets you activate your card via the bank’s mobile app. If you need to activate a credit card from a different bank, read our guide on credit card activation.

4. How The Two Sets of Features of the Secured Card Work. Secured Card accounts have two sets of features: The Secured Card features and the Store Card features. Each set of features has a different Purchase APR and Late Payment Fee as shown below and may have different rewards available.

  • The Secured Card features include a standard purchase APR of 10% and a Late Fee of $5. The Store Card features include a standard variable purchase APR of 25.99% and a Late Fee of up to $38. These APRs and fees are accurate as of 01/15/2021. The purchase APR under the Store Card features will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate (as defined in the credit card agreement).
  • Upon approval, you will only be able to access the Secured Card features. To access the Secured Card features, you will be required to provide Synchrony Bank with a security deposit, the amount of which will equal the credit limit on your account.
  • After you have been an accountholder for 12 months, Synchrony Bank will consider whether you are eligible to opt in to access the Store Card features of the account based on specific eligibility criteria and your credit profile. If you are eligible, Amazon will notify you and provide you with important information to help you decide whether to retain the Secured Card features or convert to the Store Card features. The Store Card features do not require a security deposit, but has a higher Purchase APR and Late Payment Fee and may have different rewards.
  • If you choose to convert to the Store Card features:
    • ✓ Your access to the Secured Card features will be permanently disabled.
    • ✓ Your security deposit will be returned, minus the amount needed to pay off any: (a) existing non-promotional balance, (b) expiring (within 2 months) deferred interest promotional balances and required payment due on an equal monthly payments balance, and (c) remaining minimum payment due on the account if not covered by (a) and (b) above
    • ✓ Synchrony Bank will provide you with a replacement card and card number to access the Store Card features. Your new card will be automatically added to your Amazon wallet.

5. Updating from the Amazon.com Store Card to the Amazon Prime Store Card or from the Amazon Secured Card to the Amazon Prime Secured Card. At the time you become both (i) a cardholder of an Amazon.com Store Card or an Amazon Secured Card and (ii) a customer with an Eligible Prime Membership, your card will automatically be updated to the Amazon Prime Store Card or Amazon Prime Secured Card, respectively. “Eligible Prime Memberships” only apply to Amazon.com accounts (and not accounts on any other affiliated websites outside the U.S.) and may include, in Amazon’s sole discretion: annual and monthly Amazon Prime subscriptions and members of their Amazon Household (excluding Amazon Prime Video and invited guests of an Amazon Prime account), Amazon Prime Fresh, Amazon Family, Amazon Prime Student and trial memberships of Amazon Prime. The Amazon Prime Store Card and Amazon Prime Secured Card are governed by the same Synchrony Bank terms and privacy policy as the Amazon.com Store Card and Amazon Secured Card, respectively. If you cease to be a customer with an Eligible Prime Membership, your Amazon Prime Store Card or Amazon Prime Secured Card, as the case may be, will be changed back to an Amazon.com Store Card or an Amazon Secured Card, respectively, without any change to the set of features applicable to your account.

6. Important information about your benefits and offers. To view or adjust your default option between % back (if available), special financing (if available) or equal monthly payments, visit www.amazon.com/storecard (for Amazon Store Card accounts or Secured Card accounts that have converted to the Store Card features) or www.amazon.com/securedcard (for Secured Card accounts that have not converted to the Store Card features), sign in to ‘Your Account’ (if not already signed in), and select the radio button for your desired option. Your default option will also be applied to your 1-Click orders and purchases made at physical Amazon locations. If your default option is special financing or equal monthly payments and neither is available for a specific purchase, then (if available) the applicable % back benefit, if any, will apply. The % back benefit cannot be combined with any special financing or equal monthly payments offer. You will have the option to apply the applicable % back benefit (if available) or the longest available equal monthly payments or special financing offer(s) displayed during checkout to your purchase. If your default benefit is equal monthly payments or special financing, and multiple equal monthly payments or special financing offers are available for a specific purchase, the equal monthly payments or special financing offer, as applicable, with the longest available promotion length will apply. If special financing was your default benefit prior to June 26, 2019, then from and after that date, equal monthly payments will automatically become your default benefit; to change your default benefit, visit www.amazon.com/storecard, sign in to ‘Your Account’ (if not already signed in), and select the radio button for your desired option. If no change is made during the checkout process, and your default benefit is available for your purchase, your default benefit will be applied to your purchase.

7. % Back Benefit. All purchases (less returns and other credits) to which the % back benefit applies will result in your receiving rewards points equal to the applicable % of such purchases on your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card, as the case may be, except as provided below. We may, from time to time at our discretion, supplement the % back benefit by offering bonus rewards points for certain purchases. In such cases, the total rewards points offered for such purchases will be noted on the relevant product page or during checkout, and this section will apply to the % back benefit inclusive of any bonus rewards points. The % back benefit cannot be combined with any special financing or equal monthly payments offer; you will have the option to apply either (a) any available special financing or equal monthly payments offer or (b) the % back benefit, but not both, to your purchase. If no selection is made during the checkout process, your default option will be applied to your purchase, provided such default option is available. The % back benefit is the default option for all purchases of less than $150. We reserve the right to remove any person from the % back benefit in the event of any fraud or abuse in connection with the benefit. We reserve the right to discontinue or alter the terms of the % back benefit at any time.

8. Rewards Points and Redemption. You may see rewards points referred to simply as rewards and reflected as a dollar balance (versus a points balance), with $1 of rewards being equivalent to 1 rewards point. You may redeem your rewards points for eligible purchases at Amazon.com. Alternatively, you may also elect to either (a) redeem your rewards points as a one-time statement credit or (b) automatically redeem your available rewards points balance as a statement credit at the end of each subsequent billing cycle, in each case by visiting your Synchrony Bank online account management page (www.syncbank.com/amazon) or by directly contacting Synchrony Bank. Your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account must be open and in good standing to redeem rewards points and at the time any statement credit is posted to that account. If your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account is closed, you will forfeit any unredeemed rewards points. Please allow up to two billing cycles (a) for your earned rewards points to be credited to your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account and (b) if you elect to redeem your rewards points as a statement credit, for such statement credit to be applied to your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account. If any of the products related to your original order are returned, subject to Amazon’s returns and refunds policies, you will receive any refund due to you by first refunding the amount charged to your card and, if any refund is still due, then by the return of rewards points. If a refund of your rewards points cannot be processed by Synchrony Bank for reasons including, but not limited to, closure of your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account, then Amazon will issue an Amazon Gift Card to you for an amount equal to the value of the rewards points used towards your returned purchase. If you return a purchase made with rewards points, allow up to 5 days for the value of the rewards points redeemed to be credited back to your account.

9. SPECIAL FINANCING AND EQUAL MONTHLY PAYMENTS: These offers are subject to credit approval.

  • For Amazon Store Card accounts and Secured Card accounts that have converted to the Store Card features: The standard variable purchase APR is 25.99% and is accurate as of 01/15/2021 and will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate (as defined in your credit card agreement). Minimum interest charge is $1.50.
  • For Secured Card accounts that have not converted to the Store Card features: The standard purchase APR is 10%. Minimum interest charge is $1.50.

Existing cardholders should see their credit card agreement for their applicable terms. We reserve the right to make special financing and/or equal monthly payments unavailable on any purchase at any time in our sole discretion; in such cases, and if special financing and/or equal monthly payments would otherwise have been available, we will notify you of such unavailability prior to or during checkout. We reserve the right to discontinue the special financing and equal monthly payments offers or alter the terms applicable thereto at any time.

Special financing offers: No interest if paid in full within 6, 12 or 24 months. Available using Amazon Store Card accounts, Secured Card accounts opened prior to January 1, 2021, and Secured Card accounts that have converted to the Store Card features (each, a ‘Special Financing-Enabled Card account’). Interest will be charged to your Special Financing-Enabled Card account from the purchase date if the promotional balance is not paid in full within 6, 12 or 24 months respectively. Minimum monthly payments required. If products are eligible for a special financing offer, such eligibility, together with the applicable promotion length, will be noted during checkout. The special financing offer will apply to the qualifying product, and all other items in the same order, when payment is made using a Special Financing-Enabled Card account. No interest will be assessed on the promotional balance if you pay the promotional balance in full within the applicable promotional period. If you do not, interest will be assessed on the promotional balance from the date of the purchase. Promotional balance includes the purchase amount, taxes, shipping charges and any optional debt cancellation charges related to the relevant purchase. The subtotal, which excludes shipping, handling and taxes, is used in determining whether the applicable minimum purchase amounts shown above have been met. If Amazon-sold products are eligible for 24 months special financing, such designation will be noted during checkout. If you have chosen special financing as your default payment option and special financing is available on your purchase, 1-Click orders and purchases made at physical Amazon locations will default to the special financing offer with the longest promotion length for which the purchase is eligible. Special financing offers cannot be combined with any equal monthly payments offer or the % back benefit. If your purchase includes a recurring subscription, then the first month’s subscription fee (but not any subsequent monthly subscription fees) will also be included in the promotional purchase balance. Your first Subscribe and Save order using a Special Financing-Enabled Card account is eligible for a special financing offer; subsequent Subscribe and Save orders are not. Depending on purchase amount, promotion length, and payment allocation, the required minimum monthly payments may or may not pay off the purchase by end of promotional period. Regular account terms apply to non-promotional purchases and, after this special financing promotion ends, to promotional purchases. Special financing offers are not available on Amazon Secured Card or Amazon Prime Secured Card accounts opened after January 1, 2021 while the Secured Card features are being accessed.

Equal monthly payments offer: Pay for your purchase of eligible products with equal monthly payments and 0% APR. Available using all Amazon Store Card accounts and Secured Card accounts (each, an ‘Equal Monthly Payments-Enabled Card account’). No interest will be charged on the promotional purchase balance (which includes the purchase amount, taxes, shipping charges and any optional debt cancellation charges related to the relevant purchase) and equal monthly payments are required in the amount of the total initial promotional purchase (including the purchase amount, taxes and shipping charges) divided by the designated number of equal monthly payments, until the promotional balance is paid in full. If you do not make a required equal monthly payment on time, a late fee may be added to the minimum amount otherwise due on your Equal Monthly Payments-Enabled Card account in the following billing cycle; such late fees will accrue interest at the applicable standard purchase APR listed above. If products are eligible for an equal monthly payments offer, such eligibility, together with the designated number of equal monthly payments, will be noted during checkout. The equal monthly payments offer will apply to the qualifying product, and all other items in the same order, when payment is made using an Equal Monthly Payments-Enabled Card account. Optional debt cancellation charges will not be included in the calculation of the equal monthly payment, but such charges may require you to make payments for additional months. The equal monthly payment may be higher or lower than the minimum payment that would be required if the purchase was a non-promotional purchase. The equal monthly payment calculated will not be increased to but may be included in the minimum amount otherwise due on your account or will be added to your minimum payment for other balances on your account. If you have chosen equal monthly payments as your default payment option and equal monthly payments is available on your purchase, 1-Click orders and purchases made at physical Amazon locations will default to the equal monthly payments offer with the longest promotion length for which the purchase is eligible. Equal monthly payments offers cannot be combined with any special financing offer or the % back benefit. A monthly payment, if shown in advertising, should allow you to pay off the qualifying purchase (excluding taxes, shipping charges, or optional debt cancellation charges) within the promotional period if: (1) the purchase is and will be the only balance on the account during the promotional period (this means that you do not incur any additional fees or charges on your account and no other items are purchased with this order), (2) you make the payment by the due date each month, and (3) the purchase is subject to the equal monthly payments offer. Taxes and shipping charges imposed at checkout on this order will require you to make a higher monthly payment than shown. The monthly payment calculated for each equal monthly payments offer will be added to your minimum payment for other balances on your account, and will only apply if the equal monthly payments offer advertised is selected or set as the default benefit on your account. Amazon may designate any product as eligible for an equal monthly payments offer, and may designate the number of equal monthly payments associated with such equal monthly payments offer, in its sole discretion. If your purchase includes a recurring subscription, then the first month’s subscription fee (but not any subsequent monthly subscription fees) will also be included in the promotional purchase balance.

10. No Annual Fee. There is no annual fee associated with an Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account. See the APR for new accounts at the beginning of the special financing and equal monthly payments section above.

11. Zero Fraud Liability. You will not be held liable in the event of unauthorized use. You agree that unauthorized use does not include use by a person to whom you have given authority to use your Amazon Store Card or Secured Card account, as the case may be, and that you will be liable for all use by such a person.
