Robert F. Siler is an AV Rated attorney and Asheville native who has been practicing law in Franklin since 1975. His practice has been a general practice, with an emphasis on real property, wills, and estate administration. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1955 and from Duke University in 1959.
Mr. Siler served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1964, spending his last year on active duty as Officer in Charge of the U. S. Naval Investigative Service Office, Saigon, Vietnam. He then spent several years as a special agent with the Naval Investigative Service and was attached to Naval Headquarters in London for a four year tour.
After his military career, Mr. Siler went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1975. While in law school, he served as Associate Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review.
Deeply involved in his community, Mr. Siler has been active in a variety of civic, religious, and professional organizations. He is a past Treasurer (1979-1980) and President (1981) of the Franklin Rotary Club , former member of the Macon County Board of Education, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Angel Medical Center (1998-2000), former Senior Warden of St. Agnes Episcopal Church, and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Diocese of Western North Carolina. Mr. Siler has served on the Board of Directors of Nantahala Bank & Trust Company since 2004 and is a Founding Member of the Franklin Youth Soccer League since 1980.
Mr. Siler is equally engaged in professional service and has a long history of leadership and membership in a multitude of organizations. He served as President of the 30th Judicial District Bar in 1990 and acted as the 30th Judicial District Councilor to the North Carolina State Bar from 1994 to 2002. He later went on to become President of the North Carolina State Bar from 2004-2005. Mr. Siler also served as chairman to the Bar Candidate Review Committee for the 30th Judicial District from 1985-1994. He was a member of the North Carolina State Bar Disciplinary Hearing Commission from 2007-2011 and of the American Bar Association House of Delegates from 2006 to 2011.
