Does [email protected]® cost anything?

No. Access is FREE for all of our members!

Why is [email protected]® prompting me to do a security email every time I log in?

This security procedure is prompted when our system detects that you are logging in from a new device. If you are logging in from the same device over and over again, and still having to complete the emailed security procedure, you may have just forgotten to click the "remember this device" button. Another culprit to repeated prompts is that you have your browser set to delete cookies upon exit. Our system is interpreting each new visit after a cookie is gone to be coming from a "new device."  If you are still have issues after checking these two possibilities, please contact us. 

Bill Payment

What is Bill Payment?

Bill Payment is a free service available to all members with a checking account. Once you set up your Payee(s), type in the date and amount of each bill you wish to pay; or set it up to pay a certain amount on a particular day of each month from your account automatically. We’ll send the payment for you! The best part is that you will have a saved record of the payment being sent. 

eStatements

How do I access my eStatements?

At the top of the page there are headings. Go to Account Information and hover (don't click) over the heading. Click on eStatements.

Multi-Account Access

What is it? 
Multi-Account Access is the ability to view multiple accounts under one membership log-in.

How do I set this up?

Ok, let’s assume you have two memberships; “A” and “B”. In order for you to see B’s information while logged into A, B will have to grant access to A. So, while logged in as B, go to Settings (gear icon in the top right corner) and expand the Settings tab and click on Manage Access. Next, click on Add Access and initiate security code e-mail. After entering the security code, you will be prompted to enter information about A. That’s it! Your accounts are linked. Keep in mind you will need to repeat this process under Membership A in order to view both memberships in-turn. To view Membership B, while logged in as Membership A, look to the very top of the screen for a drop-down box beside your membership name.

Will this allow me to do Cross-Account Transfers?

Yes, as long as you have initiated the Multi-Account Access described above, you will be able to quickly and easily transfer funds to checking, savings, credit cards and loans.

Member to Member Transfers

Can I transfer funds to another membership if I’m not on the receiving account? 

You’re in luck! You can do this yourself now! To transfer to another Member, select Transfers from menu, and then select My Accounts. On the My Accounts page, select the 'Add Transfer' button. Select the Share to transfer from. In the Transfer To, select 'Other Member' in the drop down. Enter the other Member’s information then click submit. You will need to provide the other Member's account number, last name and share or loan ID to transfer to.

Can I make a recurring transfer to other members?

Yes! You can set up a recurring transfer to any other Member. Click on Transfers, then click on the Recurring tab. Enter the information then click submit. 

How do I link an account so that I can make transfer to another member without remembering their account number?

There are two options. 1) You can make use of the Member to Member Transfers option. This option requires you to know the other member’s account number and share ID, but can be done quickly and on your own. 2) You can contact our Member Connection Center or any Branch to have your accounts linked. This option saves the other member’s account information in your drop-down boxes to make future transfers easy and will require permission from the other member for two-way transfers, and does not grant you access to see any of their account information. 

View Preferences

I can't see all of my accounts when I login. How do I get them to show on the main page?

This is a viewing preference setting. In the top right corner, you will see a gear icon. Click on the gear and then choose View Preferences. Select 'All' under Default Balances Grid. From now on when you log in, all of your accounts will be showing on the main page.

Alerts

What are Account Alerts?

Account Alerts are designed to monitor your account and alert you whenever a transaction or action takes place. You can set up and receive alerts for the following topics, such as: Account Balance, Account Summary, Any Deposit, Debit Card Transaction, Check Cleared, Credit Cards, Electronic Deposit, General, Large Withdrawal, Loan Balance, Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), and Stop Payment Expiring.  

How do I set up Account Alerts?

To use Account Alerts, you must have a valid email address on file. To setup a new alert, click on the Alerts menu option, and then click the Add Alert button. You can select the type of alert from the drop-down list. You can setup as many alerts as you like.

What are Text Alerts?

The Text Alerts feature will allow you to request your balance, history, a transfer or lock/unlock your account right from your phone by texting the request to 90703.

How do I set up Text Alerts?

The Text Alerts feature can be turned on by navigating to Services>Text Alerts on the top menu bar. Follow the instructions to enroll, the commands and instructions will be texted to you. Commands include: 

  • FP BAL Sxxxx (or Lxxxx) - Returns the balance on your share or loan.
  • FP HIST Sxxxx (or Lxxxx) - Returns transaction history on your share or loan.
  • FP NEXT - Returns the next five transactions from history (when requesting FP HIST).
  • FP TRAN Sxxxx Lxxxx 1 - Transfers $1 from Sxxxx to Lxxxx.
  • FP LOCK - Locks your [email protected]® access.
  • FP UNLOCK - Unlocks your [email protected]® access.
  • FP HOURS - Returns branch Hours.
  • FP CONTACT - Returns Toll-free Phone Number for First Peoples Community Federal Credit Union.
  • FP HELP - Returns a list of available Mobile Text commands.
  • FP STOP - Deactivates your mobile device from your account.

Security Updates

Changing to a User ID

You can now assign yourself a User ID to use for login purposes rather than using your account number. While account numbers will still work for logging in, we recommend making the switch over to a User ID. To set up your User ID, click on Settings (gear icon in the top right corner), Contact Info, and then Change User ID. 

Welcome Message

For added security, you can set up a custom welcome message that will display on the [email protected]® log-on page. The welcome message will display each time you access [email protected]® from the same computer. This is to ensure that you are accessing the genuine First Peoples [email protected]® site. To set up your welcome message, logon to [email protected]®, click on Settings (gear icon in the top right corner), click Settings again, then Custom Welcome Message. You can enter a new message in the text box then click submit.

Account Verification

Account verification is a notification to confirm changes made within home banking. These notifications can now be done through the use of email and text messaging. 

eMailbox

What is eMailbox?

eMailbox is a secure email channel within [email protected]® that allows you to contact the Member Connection Center electronically. To send a message through the eMailbox, click on the eMailbox menu option, and click the Compose New Email button at the bottom of the Inbox, add a subject line and compose a message.

Peoples State Bank

Is there a cutoff time for transactions?

In-branch transactions must be completed by 5:00 p.m. or before the branch closes on a business day if you want the transaction to be posted the same day. Transactions that occur on non-business days (Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays) will be posted the following business day. To post on the same day, online transfers must be completed by 5:00 p.m., mobile check deposits by 3:00 p.m. and merchant-capture check deposits by 3:00 p.m. also.

What does “FDIC Insured” mean?

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is an independent agency of the United States government that protects the funds depositors place in banks and savings associations. FDIC insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government. Since the FDIC was established in 1933, no depositor has lost a penny of FDIC-insured funds.

FDIC insurance covers all deposit accounts, including:

  • Checking accounts
  • Savings accounts
  • Money market deposit accounts
  • Certificates of deposit

FDIC insurance does not cover other financial products and services that banks may offer, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance policies, safe deposit boxes or their contents, annuities or securities.

The standard insurance amount is $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category.

What will I need to open a checking or savings account?

You will need two forms of ID to open an account. Some accounts require a minimum opening deposit. Learn more: Checking,  Savings

How do I order checks?

You can order checks during the account opening by talking to your personal banker. To reorder checks, you can stop in any of our branches.

Can I view checks online?

Yes! You can view checks online with Online Banking or in our Mobile Banking app.

Can I deposit checks into my account using my phone?

Yes! We have mobile check deposit in our mobile app. See our Mobile Banking FAQ below for more info.

CDs

What is a certificate of deposit (CD)?

A CD is a product that pays a fixed interest rate for a set period of time. It is intended that the CD be held until maturity, at which time the money may be withdrawn together with the accrued interest.

How do I cash in my CD?

You may stop in at any of our locations to cash or reinvest your CD.  We will either issue a cashier’s check, deposit to an existing account, issue you cash or reinvest.

How long do I have after maturity to cash in my CD? What happens if I’m late?

You have 10 calendar days after maturity to cash, renew or reinvest. The CD will automatically renew at the current interest rate after the 10th calendar day that the CD matures. After the 10th day, it would be considered an early withdrawal, and a penalty applies. The three-year Rate-Riser, however, is an exception, as it is a nonrenewable CD. You will either need to call on the maturity date or stop in at any one of our locations to reinvest or cash a three-year Rate-Riser.

Retirement Accounts

What is an IRA?

An individual retirement account (IRA) is an account that gives you tax advantages as you save for retirement.

What’s the difference between a Roth IRA and a Traditional IRA?

With a Roth IRA, you will be taxed on your funds now, whereas with a Traditional IRA, your funds will be taxed when they are withdrawn.

Am I eligible for a Traditional IRA?

Anyone younger than age 70½ for the entire tax year who has compensation is eligible to make regular contributions to a Traditional IRA.

Compensation is the salary or wages you receive as an employee. If you are self-employed, compensation is your net income from your business. Passive income such as interest, dividends, capital gains or rental income is not considered compensation for purposes of funding a Traditional IRA.

When can I withdraw funds from my IRA?

If you withdraw funds before the age of 59½, a 10% early-distribution penalty tax is imposed. There are some exceptions to this rule, so ask a professional about your specific situation. After the age of 59½, you may withdraw the funds penalty-free.

How do I enroll in Online Banking?

What if I’m getting an error message?

How secure is Online Banking?

Very secure. We use multiple layers of security to protect your information, including:

  • Password protection
  • Internet firewalls
  • 128-bit encryption
  • Multifactor authentication during each login

How can I reset my password?

There is a password reset link that can be used to reset personal accounts, though it cannot be used to reset business accounts. Give us a call at 800-280-1074.

Why aren't my security questions working?

Security questions are not case sensitive but have to be typed in exactly how they were originally entered. Still not working? Give us a call at 800-280-1074.

Who can I pay with Online Bill Pay?

You can pay virtually anyone you want using our Online Bill Pay service as long as they have a valid U.S. mailing address.

Exceptions include:

  • Tax payments
  • Court-ordered payments
  • Payments to payees outside the United States
  • Payments to other institutions for the purpose of making a deposit

Who is responsible for any late fees when I use Bill Pay?

We will be responsible for any late fees as long as you schedule the payment four days before its due date. If you schedule the payment less than four days before the due date, you are responsible for any late fees.

Mobile Banking

How do I get the Mobile Banking app?

Search for “Peoples State Bank Prairie du Chien” in the Apple App Store or on Google Play and download it to your mobile device.

Launch the app and log in with the same user ID and password you use for Online Banking.

How do I deposit a check using mobile banking?

First, endorse the check with your signature, account number and the phrase “For mobile deposit only.” Then, through your mobile banking app, take a picture of the front and back of your check. (The camera should automatically focus). Fill in the requested info and complete the on-screen steps.

What is the cutoff time for mobile check deposits?

Funds deposited before 3:00 p.m. on a banking business day (every day except Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays) are normally available for withdrawal on the first business day after the day of the deposit.

Are there any limits to how much I can deposit?

The daily limit is $5,000. This can be increased with officer approval.

Are there limits to what checks can be deposited?

The following types of checks are not eligible for mobile check deposit:

  • Joint checks, unless it is being deposited into an account of which both parties are members
  • Checks made payable to “Cash”
  • Checks drawn on a foreign bank or payable in a foreign currency
  • Checks altered on the front of the check
  • Checks without an authorized signature, demand drafts and remotely created checks
  • Checks dated more than six months prior
  • Checks that have previously been returned stop payment or account closed

What security measures are in place?

Mobile Banking via our app or a browser is secure.

  • A password is required each time you log in.
  • Mobile Banking uses the same multiple layers of security as Online Banking.

Depending on your device’s capabilities, you can sign on with a regular password or set up fingerprint or face recognition.

If you lose your device, you can deactivate it by following these steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking and access Mobile Banking preferences.
  • Locate the phone number and select the option “Stop using this device for Mobile Banking.”
  • Or call us at 800-281-0214.

Debit Cards

What is the daily limit for cards?

The daily limit for point-of-sale transactions is $3,000.

Can I select my own PIN or change my PIN?

Yes, after you receive your card and PIN in the mail, you will see instructions for changing your PIN. If you need additional assistance, please call 800-992-3808.

How do I order a debit card?

Just give us a call at 800-280-1074.

How long does it take to get a debit card?

You should receive your debit card within two weeks of ordering.

What should I do if my card was lost or stolen?

Call us immediately at 800-280-1074. If it’s after-hours, call 800-472-3272.

What should I do if my card is about to expire?

Before your card expires, you should automatically receive a new card in the mail. Your card is valid through the month listed on the card. For example, if it expires on 12/22, your card is valid until December 31, 2022. You will receive a new card before that date.

Lending

What information should I bring when applying for a loan?

Most loan requests begin by having the customer complete a loan application. The loan application provides the bank information about the borrower(s), such as where they live, where they work, the income they generate, the assets they own and liabilities they currently have. To help expedite the application process, a customer should bring this type of information with them when they visit on of our branches.

We also have a blank application form that can be completed before you arrange for a visit with one of our loan officers.

When will I know if I’ve been approved?

For most loan requests, our loan officers have the ability to approve the loan at the time a loan request is presented to them.

For larger loans, an officer may need to seek approval from the bank’s loan committee, which meets twice a month. If a loan decision needs to be approved by someone other than the loan officer, the loan officer will provide you with a timeline of when the final decision will be made.

What determines whether I qualify for a loan?

For consumer and residential loan requests, there are three main criteria that will be used in the decision-making process:

The first criterion will be the debt-to-income ratio of the borrower and the loan request. This ratio looks at the borrowers’ monthly liabilities in relation to their monthly income. The bank is trying to ensure the loan makes sense given the income level of the borrower.

The second criterion is the credit score of the borrower. Borrowers who have a low credit score due to past credit problems may find it difficult to obtain a new loan. To check your credit history before applying for loan, you can utilize the only source for your free credit reports authorized by the federal law here.

The third main criterion is the amount of the loan in relation to the value of the collateral being proposed for the loan. The lower the amount of the loan in relation to the value of the collateral, the higher likelihood the loan will be approved. Conversely, little to no money down on a loan request may result in the bank not approving the loan request.

While these three criteria are the main points a bank will look at in evaluating a loan request, they are by no means the only ones. Our loan officers will provide feedback to every loan applicant so you can understand the loan approval process.

Once I’m approved, how long does it take to close the loan?

For most consumer loan requests, once the loan has been approved, funds can be provided the same day as the loan approval.

For residential loan requests, it may take up to 45 days to obtain funding as the bank works with attorneys, title companies, appraisers and other professionals to ensure the borrower has all aspects of the house purchase covered.

Our loan officers will keep the customer informed of the progress throughout the entire process.

What Is a Routing Number?

Banks use routing numbers to identify each other during wire transfers. Also known as transit numbers, or ABA numbers, routing numbers are comprised of nine digits. Using 000011112 as an example, the numbers can be broken down into segments:

  • 0000: The Federal Reserve routing symbol, or the Federal Reserve Bank district the bank is located in
  • 1111: The financial institution itself
  • 2: The check digit, which can be calculated from the previous eight digits, is used for error detection.

Routing numbers were created by the American Bankers Association, and banks have been using them since the early 1900s.

Can Banks Have Multiple Routing Numbers?

Although People’s United only uses one routing number, larger banks such as Wells Fargo and Citibank use multiple routing numbers to cover different states or regions. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, but banks having more than one routing number is nothing out of the ordinary.

How Do You Find a Routing Number on a Check?

You can find a routing number on the bottom-left corner of a check. Checks usually have three important sets of numbers printed along the bottom:

  • Routing number: In the left-hand corner
  • Account number: Center, in between the routing number and the check number
  • Check number: Right-hand corner

If anything, just remember routing numbers are nine digits long.

What Is the Routing Number for International Transfers?

International wire transfers use a type of routing number called a SWIFT code.

Summer is right around the corner. With things reopening, kids getting out of school, and days lasting longer, this summer promises, we hope, some much-needed relaxation, adventure, and a chance to reconnect with family and friends.

Today, we’re kicking off our summer safety series to share some thoughts on ways to make your summer season as enjoyable and safe as possible. Unfortunately, scammers love summer, too, and they’re not taking any time off. So we want you to pack your sunscreen, but leave the SPFs (scams, phonies, and frauds) behind.

Throughout the week, we’ll share ideas for taking scam-free vacations by learning to avoid the latest travel and rental car scams, timeshare and customer review scams, and family emergency scams. And if you’ve spotted a scam this summer, we hope you’ll share it with your family and friends so they can protect themselves, too. We know that people who know about scams are more likely to be able to avoid them.

As you think about what your summer holds, here are some things to keep in mind.

No. Access is FREE for all of our members!

Why is [email protected]® prompting me to do a security email every time I log in?

Bill Payment is a free service available to all members with a checking account. Once you set up your Payee(s), type in the date and amount of each bill you wish to pay; or set it up to pay a certain amount on a particular day of each month from your account automatically. We’ll send the payment for you! The best part is that you will have a saved record of the payment being sent. 

eStatements

How do I access my eStatements?

At the top of the page there are headings. Go to Account Information and hover (don't click) over the heading. Click on eStatements.

Multi-Account Access

What is it? 
Multi-Account Access is the ability to view multiple accounts under one membership log-in.

How do I set this up?

Ok, let’s assume you have two memberships; “A” and “B”. In order for you to see B’s information while logged into A, B will have to grant access to A. So, while logged in as B, go to Settings (gear icon in the top right corner) and expand the Settings tab and click on Manage Access. Next, click on Add Access and initiate security code e-mail. After entering the security code, you will be prompted to enter information about A. That’s it! Your accounts are linked. Keep in mind you will need to repeat this process under Membership A in order to view both memberships in-turn. To view Membership B, while logged in as Membership A, look to the very top of the screen for a drop-down box beside your membership name.

Will this allow me to do Cross-Account Transfers?

Member to Member Transfers

Can I transfer funds to another membership if I’m not on the receiving account?

There are two options. 1) You can make use of the Member to Member Transfers option. This option requires you to know the other member’s account number and share ID, but can be done quickly and on your own. 2) You can contact our Member Connection Center or any Branch to have your accounts linked. This option saves the other member’s account information in your drop-down boxes to make future transfers easy and will require permission from the other member for two-way transfers, and does not grant you access to see any of their account information. 

View Preferences

I can't see all of my accounts when I login. How do I get them to show on the main page?

This is a viewing preference setting. In the top right corner, you will see a gear icon. Click on the gear and then choose View Preferences. Select 'All' under Default Balances Grid. From now on when you log in, all of your accounts will be showing on the main page.

Alerts

What are Account Alerts?

Account Alerts are designed to monitor your account and alert you whenever a transaction or action takes place. You can set up and receive alerts for the following topics, such as: Account Balance, Account Summary, Any Deposit, Debit Card Transaction, Check Cleared, Credit Cards, Electronic Deposit, General, Large Withdrawal, Loan Balance, Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), and Stop Payment Expiring.  

How do I set up Account Alerts?

To use Account Alerts, you must have a valid email address on file. To setup a new alert, click on the Alerts menu option, and then click the Add Alert button. You can select the type of alert from the drop-down list. You can setup as many alerts as you like.

What are Text Alerts?

The Text Alerts feature will allow you to request your balance, history, a transfer or lock/unlock your account right from your phone by texting the request to 90703.

How do I set up Text Alerts?

The Text Alerts feature can be turned on by navigating to Services>Text Alerts on the top menu bar. Follow the instructions to enroll, the commands and instructions will be texted to you. Commands include: 

  • FP BAL Sxxxx (or Lxxxx) - Returns the balance on your share or loan.
  • FP HIST Sxxxx (or Lxxxx) - Returns transaction history on your share or loan.
  • FP NEXT - Returns the next five transactions from history (when requesting FP HIST).
  • FP TRAN Sxxxx Lxxxx 1 - Transfers $1 from Sxxxx to Lxxxx.
  • FP LOCK - Locks your [email protected]® access.
  • FP UNLOCK - Unlocks your [email protected]® access.
  • FP HOURS - Returns branch Hours.
  • FP CONTACT - Returns Toll-free Phone Number for First Peoples Community Federal Credit Union.
  • FP HELP - Returns a list of available Mobile Text commands.
  • FP STOP - Deactivates your mobile device from your account.

Security Updates

Changing to a User ID

You can now assign yourself a User ID to use for login purposes rather than using your account number. While account numbers will still work for logging in, we recommend making the switch over to a User ID. To set up your User ID, click on Settings (gear icon in the top right corner), Contact Info, and then Change User ID. 

Welcome Message

For added security, you can set up a custom welcome message that will display on the [email protected]® log-on page. The welcome message will display each time you access [email protected]® from the same computer. This is to ensure that you are accessing the genuine First Peoples [email protected]® site. To set up your welcome message, logon to [email protected]®, click on Settings (gear icon in the top right corner), click Settings again, then Custom Welcome Message. You can enter a new message in the text box then click submit.

Account Verification

eMailbox

What is eMailbox?

eMailbox is a secure email channel within [email protected]® that allows you to contact the Member Connection Center electronically. I am locked out of my Online Banking account. What do I do?

If the password is entered incorrectly three times, the user ID will be disabled and the user will be prompted to contact Customer Care in order to unlock the account and/or generate a temporary password.

Temporary passwords:

I am locked out of my Mobile Banking app account. What do I do?

The customer has been locked out of the app for a 24 hour period. Each attempt at logging into the app after being locked out will reset the 24 hour timer. This is not something that can be unlocked, and you will have to wait the full 24 hours. However, you will still be able to access the full website.

If you receive an error when attempting to login, such as:

  1. Data network busy or unavailable (1229)
  2. Cannot complete your request at this time

Check the Apple or Google Play store to make sure you have the latest version of our app. If you don't have the latest version, please update. That should fix the issue. 

I don't remember my online password and/or username

For password resets, click "Forgot your password?" link on the sign in page to start the process. Please note you will need to have an up to date phone number on file to complete the process.

Also, you can contact Customer Care to unlock your account, and to reset passwords and/or usernames.

Please remember the following for temporary passwords generated by Customer Care:

  • Temporary password must be entered into the full website (the app does not support temporary passwords).
  • Temporary passwords must have all letters capitalized.
  • Once entered, the user will be informed that the current password has expired and will be prompted to create and confirm a new password.

Why do I have to receive and enter a security code while logging into the mobile app?

In some situations, our mobile banking app will ask for a security code for an added layer of fraud prevention. This could be because you are logging in for the first time few times, or logging in on a new wifi network OR you are logging into your account in the middle of the night  

I am receiving out-of-date phone numbers of Security Code

As a security precaution, our system will generate false phone numbers if the user ID is not valid. If provided out-of-date phone numbers when prompted for a security code, please contact:

In order to reverse a charge, please visit a branch location and file a dispute form. If you suspect you are victim of debit card fraud, please call the Customer Care Center - 24/7 - for assistance.
