Progress is Progress

This brings me to my main point, once again; progress is progress. It doesn’t matter how much progress you make. Progress is progress. If you lose 1lb a week then you might be down on yourself. Guess what? 1lb a week for a year is 52lbs lost. That a substantial amount of weight lost.

This can be said for any aspect of your life.

You raised your grade from a B to a B+? That’s progress.

You went from $0 in savings to $50 in savings? That’s progress.

Remember that any journey takes consistent, nonstop work and movement, no matter how slow or fast that movement may be. Pushing in the right direction, even if it’s just a crawl, is movement. It’s progress, and progress is progress.

The people who fail in life are those that quit. They stop pushing because they don’t see the progress they want. Except, the difference between you and them is that you understand that progress is progress; regardless of the matter at hand, you keep pushing while others quit. Because you’re relentless, you end up being successful and the others stay in the rat race.

Nest time you doubt yourself and think that your progress is too slow, remember that progress is progress.

In February 2019, I started a weight loss journey with Stephanie Miller.  It was not the first journey as my trip with weight began even when I was 10 years old.  At a young age, I started learning about balancing calories and exercise.  Trails took me down roads of success and also down to the bottom of failure.  Climbing up was always the hardest part, but the thrill of loosing 10 – 15 lbs didn’t last long.  The most devastating weight was 220 lbs and then I climbed down to 175 lbs which was a plateau for many years.  My husband and I were blessed with two children from 2013 to 2016.  I stayed balanced during those times as I tried not to gain too much baby weight and my focus became very strong.  Then trying to get to a point of keeping up with two little toddlers in my 40’s brought me to a stand still. 

I started to climb…. It was with the incredible encouragement with Stephanie that allowed me to begin taking one step at a time.  She helped me understand that there were very doable changes I could implement that would dramatically increase my energy and help loose the weight.  In taking one step at a time, Stephanie’s focus on the WHY?, watching macros and also changing your view of food to a healthier focus, I lost my first 40 lbs in 5 months.  Since then I have kept 35 lbs off.  Yes, there are days that come and go; I may slip once in a while,  though with the encouragement of Stephanie’s program and personal involvement, she is one that can take your grip and help pull you out.  If you are desiring to take the leap, I encourage you to sign up for the next challenge!!

You and I will. The HQ can access them to determine their end of the year challenge…no one else unless you decide to share.

WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR PHOTOS…

  • Wearing something like workout clothes – leggings, workout bra, swimsuit, etc, would be best to be able to really compare later
  • If you absolutely don’t want to wear any of those, consider wearing tight fitting clothing to best compare with.
  • Use the camera within the app – there is a timer – so prop your camera and snap the shots! (Front, side and back)
  • Make sure the lighting is good
  • Try to get your entire body in the picture

30-Day Fitness Challenge Show Up Fitness

At Show Up Fitness - Where Great Trainers Are Made, we challenge our interns (aspiring trainers and students who are looking to gain experience who are already certified) to think outside the box. If you’re not familiar with 1st Phorm, it’s a large supplement company with a very colorful CEO Andy Frisella (he has a podcast HERE.) We took his 75-day challenge and implemented our own unique variations. We took what Andy had for 75-days and made our own competition for 30-days. First, I took the image that he used and bought a $5 gig from FIVRR This website allows you to SAVE time and hire someone to do work for as little as $5. Before we get into OUR challenge, here’s what I like and dislike about Andy’s challenge:

1- Challenge people. Who doesn’t like a little motivation and/or competition? I feel our society is frightened by SHOWING UP so I love the idea of challenging people to SHOW UP for 75-days.

2- A combination of exercise, mindset, nutrition, and getting out of your comfort zone.

3- Very specific challenges e.g. 5-minute cold shower, 10-pages, 45-minute workout.

A few things that I wanted to make better…

  • No alcohol or cheats. If you’ve gone through our personal training internship program, you know that we don’t use words such as “good”, “bad”, or “cheat”. This vocabulary is part of the reason why we’re an obese nation. What do you think is going to happen after 75-days of restriction? Most people will binge and go back to their bad habits. We want to create a community that’s open to socializing, having burgers, pizza, and beer, but only 3/21 meals per week (they can’t be consecutive days.) Also, you know that I could never give up drinking for 24-hours :-)

  • Gallon of Water. I don’t know where the whole 1-gallon of water phenomenon came from, but for the majority of people, that’s too much water. A better indicator of hydration is the color of your urine, how you’re feeling, or 1/2 your body weight in ounces. For the general population, we can get by with 4-6 glasses of water per day because most people drink coffee or diet soda (remember fruits & vegetables contain water too.)

Progress is Progress

This brings me to my main point, once again; progress is progress. It doesn’t matter how much progress you make. Progress is progress. If you lose 1lb a week then you might be down on yourself. Guess what? 1lb a week for a year is 52lbs lost. That a substantial amount of weight lost.

This can be said for any aspect of your life.

You raised your grade from a B to a B+? That’s progress.

You went from $0 in savings to $50 in savings? That’s progress.

Remember that any journey takes consistent, nonstop work and movement, no matter how slow or fast that movement may be. Pushing in the right direction, even if it’s just a crawl, is movement. It’s progress, and progress is progress.

The people who fail in life are those that quit. They stop pushing because they don’t see the progress they want. Except, the difference between you and them is that you understand that progress is progress; regardless of the matter at hand, you keep pushing while others quit. Because you’re relentless, you end up being successful and the others stay in the rat race.

Nest time you doubt yourself and think that your progress is too slow, remember that progress is progress.

Keep pushing.

Keep grinding.

At Show Up Fitness - Where Great Trainers Are Made, we challenge our interns (aspiring trainers and students who are looking to gain experience who are already certified) to think outside the box. If you’re not familiar with 1st Phorm, it’s a large supplement company with a very colorful CEO Andy Frisella (he has a podcast HERE.) We took his 75-day challenge and implemented our own unique variations. We took what Andy had for 75-days and made our own competition for 30-days. First, I took the image that he used and bought a $5 gig from FIVRR This 1st phorm 8 week challenge 2020 allows you to SAVE time and hire someone to do work for as little as $5. Before we get into OUR challenge, here’s what I like and dislike about Andy’s challenge:

1- Challenge people. Who doesn’t like a little motivation and/or competition? I feel our society is frightened by SHOWING UP so I love the idea of challenging people to SHOW UP for 75-days.

2- A combination of exercise, mindset, nutrition, and getting out sports card stores nyc your 1st phorm 8 week challenge 2020 zone.

3- Very specific challenges e.g. 5-minute cold shower, 10-pages, 45-minute workout.

A few things that I wanted to make better…

  • No alcohol or cheats. If you’ve gone through our personal training internship program, you know that we don’t use words such as “good”, “bad”, or “cheat”. This vocabulary is part of the reason why we’re an obese nation. What do you think is going to happen after 75-days of restriction? Most people will binge and go back to their bad habits. We want to create a community that’s open to socializing, having burgers, pizza, and beer, but only 3/21 meals per week (they can’t be consecutive days.) Also, you know that I could never give up drinking for 24-hours :-)

  • Gallon of Water. I don’t know where the whole 1-gallon of water phenomenon came from, but for the majority of people, that’s too much water. A better indicator of hydration is the color of your urine, how you’re feeling, or 1/2 your body weight in ounces. For the general population, we can get by with 4-6 glasses of water per day because most people drink coffee or diet soda (remember fruits & vegetables contain water too.)

Without further ado, let us introduce Show Up Fitness 30-day challenge…

"So on Friday the 13th I finally completed the first part of the “Live Hard” programme.

I say finally because it was not a straight path. I’m going to share this now for those of you that think I’m “a machine”, and super motivated and this and that.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I finally completed this programme on my SEVENTH, yes SEVENTH attempt! I started on April 20th and I finally after a cumulative 117 (!!!!) days on the programme, I got it done!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So if you think I just did it, or are that you can’t do it, I hope my many attempts shows you just you are the type of person who can!

Before I get into the juice of this post, I wanna say a couple of things. Firstly, about my body, I am super super happy with the progress but I did want to be further along, and this is nowhere near my short term body goals!

Secondly, this is not a physical or fitness programme, it is a mental toughness programme! If you think that these physical changes are impressive, I can’t even begin to describe the mental changes that have taken place.

So moving into the programme, the lessons were far reaching and wide. 6 of my 7 failed attempts were due to missing the photograph, one was due to the reading. IE the basics!

Ie I lacked discipline! I lacked systems! I lacked attention to detail! I lacked consistency!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But not anymore! :-)

The lessons I learned on Day 5 alone paid the dues for the entire programme 10 times over. I had a fairly major vertigo episode and was bed bound. In my Norma life I would take days and days off training.

With the support my of my 75hard comrades, I rested all day, then did 45 minutes of leg raises and curls in a chair with dumbbells! Later on when I could move a bit I got in service credit union branches near me 45 minute walk outdoors!

It really is all in the mind!

Going through this in the middle of a major change in my life (separation), I can honestly say this programme pulled me through a nervous breakdown and totally saved me life.

Not only that, it brought out the real peak performer inside me, and everyone around me has noticed.

It has carried over to my work, my fitness, my family life, just everywhere!
