Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA Pet Food Pantry is one of the many ways the SPCA is working to increase pet retention in the Charlottesville and greater Albemarle community. Financial insecurity is one of the leading causes of pet surrenders. The SPCA hopes to address this by reducing the cost of pet care through free food. SPCA volunteers bag, transport, and pass out dog and cat food at local food pantries as a way to reach those who may be struggling.

Onsite Pet Pantry Procedure

  • We ask that individuals who need pet food support visit our shelter Monday-Friday between 10am-4pm. Please follow the instructions on the signs at the front doors when you arrive and wear a mask.

Offsite Pet Pantry Procedure

Friends of Strays has joined forces with the St. Petersburg Free Clinic, Meals on Wheels, and Daystar Life Center for our Community Pet Food Pantry. The Friends of Strays’ Pet Food Pantry has been providing under-resourced households with free cat and dog food since 2015.

In the past, the program has allowed for community members to come to the shelter during open hours to collect food for their pets. We have compiled this list of Massachusetts food pantries to help both families who need food and those who would like to donate pet food (dogs and cats), and will continue to update this list as we receive new information.

One critical step in helping to make Utah a no-kill state is providing residents with resources so they can avoid relinquishing their pets to shelters. To help, we opened a pet food pantry at the Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Salt Lake City.

The pet food pantry provides pet food to the pets of low-income residents and community cat caregivers. Please note that we rely on donations to fill orders, which means our food levels vary.
