North Texas Giving Day
What is North Texas Giving Day?
North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to gain exposure to - and start relationships with - new donors, and for people in North Texas to come together and raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits. Amazon Agrees to be Inaugural Presenting Sponsor for 2021 North Texas Giving Day
Amazon has agreed to be inaugural presenting sponsor of this year's Communities Foundation of Texas' North Texas Giving Day, the foundation and Amazon announced.
The 2021 North Texas Giving Day is Sept. 23, with early giving beginning Sept. 1.
"The 13th annual Giving Day follows another record-setting year, where more than 106,000 donors raised $58.8 million for more than 3,000 nonprofits," the Communities Foundation said in a release.
“Amazon is thrilled to serve as North Texas Giving Day’s presenting sponsor," Vickie Yakunin, Amazon's senior manager of external affairs, said in the release. "The donations from this event fuel so much important work throughout North Texas, strengthening our community and supporting the most vulnerable.
“Thousands of our employees work and live across North Texas," Yakunin said. "We strive not just to be a good employer, but also a good neighbor. By partnering with North Texas Giving Day, an event that is about giving back locally, we are able to invest in our community as we work together to recover from the pandemic and build a more equitable future for all.”
Monica Egert Smith, the foundation's chief relationship officer, said “having Amazon as our 2021 presenting sponsor is a dream match for Communities Foundation of Texas. This partnership will empower Giving Day to significantly expand its reach to new audiences and elevate the nonprofit sector in unique and exciting ways."

Communities Foundation of Texas’ North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform. During NTX Giving Day, everyone has the opportunity to be a philanthropist to build a stronger and more vibrant community.
Generous gifts through NTX Giving Day help the Junior League of Collin County promote volunteerism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community in Collin County. NTX Giving Day also gives us a chance to introduce our organization to a new audience and raise funds to further our mission.
We are so grateful for the 177 people who donated during the 2021 NTX Giving Day and are thrilled to share that we raised over $26,000! The money raised will help us continue to work to improve life in Collin County – feeding children, putting an end to family violence, and training women to be strong civic leaders.
Since its inception in 2009, this online event has transformed from an idea to help local people give wisely, to a movement that has ignited a broad culture of community-wide giving. NTX Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation. In 2021, $66 million was raised through 103,275 unique donors benefiting over 3,300 local nonprofits, bringing the thirteen-year total to over $441 million for our community.
DALLAS – May 6, 2020
North Texas Giving Tuesday Now, the joint giving effort between United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Communities Foundation of Texas, and Dallas Cowboys, closed out 18 hours of philanthropy with nearly 45,000 donors giving more than $20.7 million to more than 2,500 North Texas nonprofits. Additionally, more than 9,400 donors pledged nearly 300,000 volunteer hours.
Furthermore, since the COVID-19 pandemic hit barely a month ago, generous foundations, companies, and individual donors have come together to contribute $21.8 million to relief funds managed by the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation, and North Texas Community Foundation.
“We continue to be blown away by this uniquely philanthropic and heartfelt community,” said Dave Scullin, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas—founder of North Texas Giving Day. “Seeing the nearly 45,000 donors and volunteers come together at a distance for North Texas Giving Tuesday Now underscores our incredible local bond in support of each other through our critical nonprofit sector. ”
While in-person events are cancelled, event organizers and nonprofits hosted virtual musical concerts and art performances and volunteer opportunities to increase awareness, raise money, collect needed essential goods, and truly celebrate philanthropy.
“In these uncertain and challenging times, the spirit of North Texas shines bright,” said Jennifer Sampson, president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. “We are encouraged and inspired by the generosity of our community, but not surprised. Because when you live and work alongside North Texans—people with great courage and great compassion—great things happen. The extraordinary results of this collaborative effort is another endorsement of what we already know—we’re better together.”
North Texas Giving Tuesday Now took place simultaneously with the global #GivingTuesdayNow event and served as the local effort. The online campaign launched on April 14, 2020 with early giving and culminated with 18 hours of giving on May 5.
“We were thrilled to be part of this community-empowering day that really showcased the amazing heart of this region,” said Charlotte Jones, Dallas Cowboys Vice President and Chief Brand Officer.
North Texas Giving Tuesday Now was hosted on the North Texas Giving Day platform. It provided donors and volunteers the ability to search by various categories, including organizations on the COVID-19 frontlines, cause, location, and size.
The full list of results (sortable by organization name, total gifts or total dollars) is listed at https://northtexasgivingday.org/leaderboard.
